I’m an alcoholic who writes. Like you, I’ve been through hell and back. Probably UNlike you, I wrote a book about it. Actually, seven books.
After a long career as an advertising copywriter, I retired to the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains and began writing for fun.
Slowly... joyfully, my life story flew from my fingertips and took a life of its own. It's raw, honest, and unfettered writing about the core of my drunk and confused self -- co-narrated by my current sober and insightful self.
I live in Tennessee with my canine child and kindest critic, Stormin’ Norman the Schnauzer.
Officially, I'm disabled. My spinal nerves are in a tangle. But you'll love the story about how it happened and what height had to do with it.
Only through my Higher Power (whom I choose to call Dude), can I live happily, being kind, honest, and ultra-grateful.
It took almost three years to write the "Life & Times of a Curious Drunk" series. I must say writing about my life has been cathartic. The examination of my actions has set e on a clear path to love myself. And to love others and their others.
We are all fraught with emotions, alcoholics more than anyone, and I've tried to share mine with you in scenes recreated from my recent and ancient past. At the end of most chapters, I share a "reflection" from my now-20-years sober self.
My only hope is that telling my story will help somebody - in whatever way it could. For all of you, thanks for knowing my stupid character flaws and loving me anyway.
Love and peace,
